Executive Director Bio
Gerald Scott is the founder and Executive Director of STAAR Foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and former fraternity president of Kappa Alpha Psi from 1981-82. Gerald is passionate about ‘thought leadership’ and has years of experience working with students seeking a post-secondary education.
“Supporting culture and being diverse is important and healthy. I grew up in NE OKC, where the community was predominantly African American and homogenous. In the 21st century, Oklahoma’s landscape and our state’s social sectors are changing. Social and economic growth and activity require that our societal shift include “social development.” Social development means that we provide for the basic needs of the people. It is all about “improving” the well-being of every individual in society. The STAAR Foundation’s mission is to enrich lives through education, training, resources, and cultural diversity. All Oklahomans should have the opportunity to reach their full potential! Our foundation seeks to build a multicultural community hub and center where our organizational mission is fulfilled. A space that respects a homogenous perspective regarding “culture” but chooses to invest in multiculturalism. A site for families and youth, where thought leaders are developed. “Influencers” are developed for their fields of expertise, having received training through STAAR Foundation evidenced-based programs, expanding their worldview by DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion.) Our STAAR Foundation Multicultural Community Center will be a site where young thought leaders are trained to inspire, expand, and nurture their innovative ideas with other cultures to impact key industry sectors of Oklahoma, creating a culturally competent Oklahoma also committed to the “benefits” of multiculturalism, entrepreneurship, and social development.” ~ Gerald Scott, Executive Director
